Camp Pali Science Camp Information Page

We departed Jefferson and had a smooth bus ride up to Pali. We arrived safely at Pali at about 10:30am. Students were VERY excited to see all the snow on the ground (about 1.5 feet) and the icicles on the buildings. Students had an orientation meeting and then went to cabins with their counselors to settle in before lunch! Everyone is excited and happy to finally be here after months (years?) of waiting.

 

Students raved about the Pali lunch of hamburgers, fries, corn, salad, fruit and assorted condiments. They then went to afternoon activity groups which consisted of a number of different activities such as the ropes course, animal survivor, CSI Pali, balloon rescue, archery and building support. Students will have cabin time for an hour before dinner. After dinner it's off to a night hike to discuss the night sky and nocturnal animals. Then it's off to bed!

 

We awoke to sunny skies with the temperature art 32 F (which is fairly warm for up here - often it is in the teens in the morning!). Students had fun in cabins before bedtime. We had breakfast of waffles, eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt, cereal, sausage, etc. Students are now headed off to morning activity classes. There were lots of smiles and thumbs up at breakfast this morning. We are looking forward to a great day!

 

We had great activities before and after lunch. All the groups have now done the ropes course. Each group has one more activity tomorrow after breakfast. Students had "Teacher Time" which gives counselors a little break, before dinner where we watched "Shrek 2". We didn't quite finish it because dinner time came quickly. Students enjoyed dinner and then had our variety show. There where many acts including, skits, karaoke, poems, stories, etc. I will let the students tell you all about it when we return. Tomorrow we will have breakfast, one activity and then get ready to board busses for our return trip. Mr. Winckler will keep you posted through email about our arrival time which depends on a lot of factors. See you all when we return!
