Hello families of Room 15,
My name is Sara LaTorre. I am thrilled to have your child in my third grade class this year! I am originally from Phoenix, AZ and I received my Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!). I went on to obtain my Masters in Teaching from Pepperdine University and have been teaching at Jefferson since 2016! I live here in Redondo Beach with my husband, daughter, and chihuahua mix.
I believe the classroom should be an encouraging, organized, and collaborative learning environment to allow for creativity and a safe haven for learning and growing. I follow the Responsive Classroom approach to my teaching. This approach emphasizes that an inclusive community and social-emotional learning are equally as important as engaging academics.
