Welcome

Welcome to Mrs. Grambling's First Grade Class

My name is Nicole Grambling.  I am a first grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School.  I have been teaching at Jefferson since 2014 and teaching elementary school since 2007.

I grew up in Philadelphia, PA where I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary and Special Education from La Salle University.  Before moving to California, I began working towards my Master’s degree in Education with Reading Specialist Certification from Cabrini College.  I live in the South Bay and when I’m not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, and SUP.

Important Info:

Drop off and Pick Up

Children should meet me on the Jefferson playground at our Room 2 line. The warning bell rings at 8:10am, and the tardy bell at 8:13am. Dismissal is at 2:30, with the exception of 1:30 on Wednesdays. I will walk students to Dolphin Square at dismissal. For safety reasons, students need to let me know their ride is here before leaving our line. REC and CDC students will walk to their designated location as a group. Students should be fully aware of their afterschool plans (which days they go to CDC, who is picking them up, etc.).

Supplies

If you have not yet purchased supplies, please refer to the Jefferson website and click on your child’s grade level to view a list of supplies needed.  Please send your child with these supplies as soon as possible in a bag with their name on it.

Snack/Lunch

Students should bring a snack for our 10am recess. It is helpful to label their snack with their name for the first few weeks as snacks are placed in a class bin. Students may bring a lunch or purchase a lunch in the cafeteria (signing up for a lunch account is preferred).

Homework

Students will receive a homework folder and begin homework after I have had a chance to discuss it with you at Back to School Night. It will consist of a weekly packet and reading log to be turned on Fridays. There will also be occasional special projects to complete at home.

Weekly Communication

Each week I will send home a classroom newsletter, which will have an overview of the week ahead and include any important dates for your calendar.
