"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
Welcome to Mrs. Morlock's 4th Grade Class!
Hi there, my name is Heather Morlock and I have been lucky to have been teaching fourth grade at Jefferson since 2015. I obtained my Undergraduate Degree from the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY (also my home town), while being part of the Division 1 cheerleading program (Go Bulls!). Furthermore, I obtained my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at California State Dominguez Hills, where I also completed the Master’s program with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction.
My Classroom:
My classroom environment is conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking, which cannot be done when kids are sitting in a one-size-fits-all setting. I am proud to say that I have transformed my classroom into a flexible learning environment, which has created an engaging, differentiated, flexible, and choice-driven space for my students to learn in and create amazing experiences in. The wobbling, rocking, swiveling, bouncing, standing, and "lounging" on pillows/couches, gives them a sense of freedom and choice to be an active part of their day to day education. The choice part gives them a chance to be independent and focus on what space in the room they can really work best in. The kids are thriving in this environment and excited to come into this classroom every single day, and for that, I am so proud.
The students in room 21 work so hard, come to school with a positive attitude, and are so excited to learn every single day, which makes me love my job even more. They make me want to work extra hard to give them everything they need to grow and accomplish their goals.
